The head coach of the English football club Manchester City, Pep Guardiola, expressed his frustration with the inconsistency of Video Assistant Referee (VAR) decisions after his team's 2-0 victory over Newcastle in the Carabao Cup. According to the British news agency PA Media, Manchester City has secured a place in the final after winning the second leg of the semi-final. Antoine Griezmann scored his second goal in two consecutive matches before Ryan Christie sealed the win with a crucial goal in the final moments. However, the referee controversially disallowed a goal for the visitors in the second half. Griezmann scored his second goal from a corner, but a long VAR review determined that Erling Haaland was in an offside position, obstructing defender Malang Sarr. After the match, Guardiola expressed his frustration, noting that there were incidents in City's last match at St. James' Park in November that were not addressed. When asked if he received any explanation for the decision, Guardiola replied: "That's a good question." He added: "I would now like to know why, in the 60th minute of the Premier League match against Newcastle, which we lost 1-2 with the score level, there was a penalty on Fabian Delph for Phil Foden, which wasn't even reviewed." He continued: "In the 20th minute, there was an unbelievable penalty for Jeremy Doku due to a handball, but VAR didn't even intervene." He concluded: "Four people couldn't make the decision because the line was (I don't know), but Newcastle's second goal was perfect."
