Two horses, 'Arlan' owned by Mirkhat Belginnov and 'David of Athens' from the 'Wuznan Racing' team, secured victory in the preparatory races for the Jebel Ali Stakes and Jebel Ali Mile, held on Saturday as part of the fifth and sixth main races. The racing evening, titled 'Art Day', was the seventh leg of the new season at Jebel Ali Racecourse. Sponsored by leading companies, the evening featured seven races with a total prize money of 600,000 dirhams, where 87 horses from the elite local and international stables competed. In the fifth race, the 'Tabuk Turn Prize – Jebel Ali Stakes Preparatory Race', for 'Handicap' category horses over a 1950-meter sand track, eight top horses participated. 'Arlan', trained by Doug Watson and ridden by jockey Patrick Dobbs, clinched victory with a time of 1 minute 58.61 seconds, finishing 0.21 lengths ahead of 'Yusuf Trafor' owned by 'Hobs Racing'. The excitement continued in the sixth race, the preparatory race for the 'Jebel Ali Mile', for Thoroughbred horses, with 13 horses competing for 120,000 dirhams in prize money. 'David of Athens', trained by Hamad Al Jahani and ridden by Patrick Dobbs, won the race with a time of 1 minute 36.66 seconds, defeating the second-place horse 'Said' owned by Sheikh Ahmed bin Rashid Al Maktoum by 2.62 lengths.
