Two stars of the European Ryder Cup team, Tommy Fleetwood and Shane Lowry, have confirmed their readiness to participate in the 37th edition of the Hero Dubai Desert Classic golf tournament. The event will be held from January 22 to 25 at the Emirates Golf Club and will bring together the world's golfing elite for the first stage of the Rolex "Race to Dubai" series this season. Both players were part of the European team that retained the Ryder Cup, with a special focus on Lowry, who executed the decisive shot that secured the team's victory over the United States. The duo has previously achieved success in the UAE: Fleetwood won the Dubai International in 2024 and the Abu Dhabi Championship in 2017 and 2018, while Lowry won the Abu Dhabi Championship in 2019. Lowry said at a press conference: "The Hero Dubai Desert Classic embodies the essence of the DP World Tour, given its rich history since 1989. The 'Dallah' Cup is symbolic, and every player dreams of having their name engraved on it. It is a historic tournament and one of the most important I participate in, and I hope to add it to my trophy cabinet." In turn, Fleetwood expressed his happiness at participating in the tournament, noting the advantage of living in Dubai, and said: "I am fortunate to be able to participate in the end-of-season tournaments of the DP World Tour here in the UAE, as well as the start-of-season events in Dubai. I consider this tournament to be one of the best of the year, and its course is one of the best in the world. Although over the years I have not been able to deliver the performance I desire to win, I love the challenge and competition here, and I find the atmosphere wonderful for practicing golf at the beginning of the year."
