Fashion Friday at Meydan Racecourse Sets Stage for Dubai World Cup

Today at 5:30 PM, the horse racing world turns its eyes to the Meydan Racecourse, which will host the 'Fashion Friday', the second major event of the 'Dubai Carnival' season. The event features nine races with a total prize pool exceeding 10 million dirhams, sponsored by Longine, and will see 94 of the best local and international horses compete. This evening is particularly significant as it sets the stage for the top contenders vying for a spot in the 'Dubai World Cup' on March 28th, which boasts a total prize fund of $30.5 million. The 'Fashion Friday' program includes three Group 1 races, the highest classification: the 'Al Maktoum Challenge', serving as a preparatory race for the $12 million Dubai World Cup; the 'Jebel Hatta', which matches the length and course of the Dubai Turf from the World Cup night with a $5 million prize; and the second leg of the 'Al Maktoum Challenge' for Arabian horses, a preparatory race for the 'Dubai Kahila Classic' next March. The speed championships, 'Blue Point Sprint' for Group 2 Thoroughbreds over 1000 meters on grass with a prize fund of 850,000 dirhams, and 'Al Shindagha Sprint' for Group 3 Thoroughbreds over 1200 meters on sand with a prize fund of 700,000 dirhams, also capture public attention. The excitement continues with the classic 'UAE 2000 Guineas' for Group 3 Thoroughbreds over 1600 meters on sand, with a prize fund of 700,000 dirhams.
