The Dubai International Marine Club has announced that it is accepting applications for the first round of the Dubai Fishing Tournament. The competition will take place from February 5 to 8 at Dubai Harbour. It is considered the largest specialized event for fishing Kingfish and Cero species.
The total prize pool is 195,000 dirhams. The top ten places in the Kingfish category will receive 140,000 dirhams, while the top three in the Cero category will claim 30,000 dirhams. Additionally, Dalma Marine will award 25,000 dirhams to the Kingfish season champion, and Siyaf Marine will present fishing rods to the top three winners in both categories, along with gifts for other finalists.
The tournament kicks off on February 5. Daily competitions run from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM, except for the final day on February 8, when the schedule shifts to 9:00 AM – 2:30 PM, followed by the awards ceremony.
Mohammed Al-Mari, Director of Sports Affairs at the club, emphasized that the event brings together fishing enthusiasts from citizens, residents, and visitors. Participation requires a licensed vessel equipped with safety gear, and each boat must carry at least two people.
"Fishing is permitted only by trolling using rods with live or artificial bait. Nets or cages are prohibited to preserve the marine environment of the UAE."
According to the rules, the winner is determined by the heaviest fish. In the event of a tie in weight, length is considered; if both are equal, the first to deliver the catch wins. Video documentation of the catch is mandatory under specific guidelines and full supervision of the organizing committee.
