The national para-athletes team has increased its medal tally to 29 (six gold, ten silver, and thirteen bronze) at the 5th West Asian Para Games "Muscat 2026". This came after adding 15 new medals on the second day of competitions (four gold, three silver, and eight bronze), following the 14 medals won on the first day. The gold medals of the second day were secured by Mohammad Wahdani, who won gold in the 200m wheelchair race, and Mohammad Yusuf Osman, who was crowned champion in the 800m wheelchair race, along with Mohammad Al-Kaabi in discus throw and Maryam Al-Zeyoudi in shot put. As for the three silver medals, they were achieved by Mohammad Yusuf Osman in the 200m wheelchair race, Ahmed Al-Hosni in javelin throw, and Sultan Al-Shamsi in the same event. In the eight bronze medals, Mubarak Al-Zanahani secured bronze in javelin throw. Also, Ahmed Nouad won two bronze medals in the 200m and 800m wheelchair races, while Abdulaziz Al-Kendi achieved a bronze in javelin throw, and Abdullah Al-Misbahi added another in the same event. Rashid Al-Zeyoudi also won bronze in javelin throw. In the women's category, Maryam Al-Matrooshi won bronze in shot put, and Siham Al-Rashidi secured bronze in javelin throw. In goalball competitions for the visually impaired, the national team achieved a big victory over their Syrian counterpart 12-2, before losing to the Saudi team. The participation of our national team in the competitions continues until February 8th, with aspirations to continue collecting medals and enhancing the UAE's presence in para-sports at the regional and continental levels.
