Former Al-Nasr and Al-Wasl coach Salem Rabie emphasized the importance of creating an official position for an athlete that guarantees them a pension at the end of their career. He stressed that this right should not be limited to football players only but should extend to various sports, due to the direct positive impact on the stability of players and their level of performance during and after their playing period. In an interview with "Al Ittihad," Salem Rabie said: "Providing a pension safety net for players will have a major positive impact on their sports careers, whether during their active participation or after retirement, by enhancing the element of psychological and residential stability. This, in turn, contributes to raising the overall technical output and developing the sports system comprehensively." He added: "The proposal requires a governmental decision based on clear criteria and mechanisms that ensure the future of athletes and guarantee the player a pension after a specified period, in a manner commensurate with what their counterparts in other sectors receive." He continued: "Implementing this proposal requires an active role for the pension institution by deducting a percentage of players' salaries during their sports period, especially since many of their salaries are substantial and allow for such deductions, achieving fairness and sustainability in the proposed pension system." He went on: "The playing careers of some players may extend to 15 years or less, which provides a suitable opportunity to apply this system, and the player will be able to complete the required service period later by continuing to work in the sports field after retirement, whether as a coach, assistant coach, administrator, or in any other position within the sports system, to complete the necessary period to reach the degrees that guarantee them the pension, according to the mechanisms in force in the pension and social security authority."
