English FA Fines Millwall for Offensive Fan Chants

The English Football Association announced yesterday that it has fined Millwall Football Club 45,000 pounds (60,448 dollars) for offensive chants during their League Cup match against Crystal Palace last September. Millwall, which competes in England's League One, admitted that some of its fans chanted against the opposing team with the phrase 'brain-damaged people in South London', a discriminatory and offensive term for people with disabilities. In a statement, Millwall said: 'These chants go against all the values and principles that the club represents, and we condemn them in the strongest terms.'
