Vitória: Al Wasl Focused on Performance Before Al-Nasr Clash

Al Wasl's head coach, Rui Vitória, confirmed that the technical staff is currently not focused on the location or format of the team's upcoming match against Saudi Al-Nasr next month in the AFC Champions League quarter-finals. Instead, their priority is on continuing to develop performance in local league matches to ensure the required readiness. Vitória made these comments following Al Wasl's 3-0 victory over Al Dhafra two days ago, concluding the 20th round of the Pro League. He praised his players' performance, stating that the team needed this win. "We played a good match against Al Dhafra, we managed to control the game's flow, create spaces and chances, and we got a deserved result," he said. "In the upcoming training sessions, we need to focus on improving our performance and working on small details, treating each league match individually to ensure we reach full readiness for the match against Al-Nasr." Vitória added: "We achieved a good result, and we could have scored more goals if we had taken all our chances, which we will work on improving in the coming period." He explained that the technical staff has not yet received official confirmation regarding the venue and arrangement of the match, stressing the importance of maintaining the team's focus. "We prefer not to get distracted and focus only on the next match, because that is what will make us ready to continue our journey in the tournament, regardless of the playing location." The Asian Football Confederation has approved a single-match system for the quarter-finals and semi-finals of the tournament, to be held on neutral grounds between April 19 and 22. With the win over Al Dhafra, Al Wasl's points tally reached 33, placing them fifth in the standings, one point behind fourth-placed Al Wahda. In the next round, Al Wasl will face Al Sharjah away from home. Rui Vitória: "We played a good match against Al Dhafra, we managed to control the game's flow and we got a deserved result."
