Brazilian footballer Casemiro has refused to backtrack on his decision to leave the English football club Manchester United at the end of the current season. The British PA Media agency reported that Casemiro has regained his form under Michael Carrick's leadership, scoring two goals in his last three Premier League matches. Manchester United announced in January that Casemiro would leave the club when his contract expires after spending four seasons at Manchester United and playing in over 150 matches. After Brazil's 1-2 loss to France, Casemiro told The Athletic: "I am still enjoying playing at Manchester United a lot. It is a huge thing, this love the fans have shown me. But I really believe the decision has been made and it is final."
Casemiro, who played for Real Madrid for a decade, praised Carrick and his influence on him since he took over as interim manager following Ruben Amorim. The Brazilian player said: "First of all, Michael specializes in my position on the field, he was a truly great player." He added: "This makes everything easier, he is always talking to us. I think it will be difficult moments, these last matches at Manchester United."
Casemiro also shared his goals: "I feel we are in a good position in Manchester right now, and my goal now is to bring the club back to the Champions League." Manchester United have won seven of their last ten matches, jumping to third place in the Premier League table. Their next match against Leeds will take place on April 13.
