Jose Ortiz Wins Dubai World Cup on 'Magnetized'

Jose Ortiz, the jockey from the UAE, stated that his victory yesterday on the American horse 'Magnetized' in the ninth race of the 30th Dubai World Cup, with a prize fund of $12 million, had the 'taste of gold' and was a long-awaited dream. Ortiz noted that the final stages of the race and the capabilities shown by the horse 'Magnetized' in fending off the attacks of the top Japanese favorite 'Forever Young' confirmed that he is capable of giving more and turning the dream into reality. 'Since the beginning of my professional career 14 years ago, I set my goal on joining the golden list of Dubai World Cup records, which the best jockeys on the international scene aspire to achieve, and I am happy that I managed to do so in my third participation with the horse 'Magnetized'. I thank the wonderful Dubai that made my life's dream come true,' Ortiz told 'Al-Ittihad' newspaper. 'The plan went as required, and 'Magnetized' after the start and early lead gave me more confidence that we could achieve this dream. Positive feelings grew as we approached the finish line, especially when 'Magnetized' responded to my command to accelerate again in the last 100 meters and fend off the charge of the horse 'Forever Young',' he added. 'Advancing to the lead in the early stages was not always part of the plan, we discussed that before the race, leaving all possibilities open, but the start was excellent, and I was happy to be in the lead,' Ortiz continued. 'I wasn't worried about a threat in the first stage, but 600 meters before the end, I prepared myself to ask the horse for a final burst, after I felt that 'Forever Young' was coming on strong. The response from 'Magnetized' gave me a feeling that he was continuing to advance and that he is the best horse in the world,' he said. Regarding the feelings of joy that overcame him at the finish line, Ortiz said: 'I work hard every day for moments like this. This is not just about me, but the entire team, whether those present here in Dubai, or those who followed us on screens in the United States, or my family, who are the fundamental reason for what I am today. This victory is not just mine'.
