The UAE Pro League is approaching a historic 9,000-goal milestone. Top scorer Laba Kodjo and Al Ahli Dubai are also aiming to set new records.

UAE Pro League Approaches 9,000-Goal Milestone

The UAE Pro League is approaching a historic milestone of 9,000 goals since its inception in the 2008-2009 season. After the end of the 20th round, a total of 8,988 goals have been scored. In the previous season, the 16th edition, a total of 8,609 goals were recorded. In the current 17th season, over 140 matches, players have found the net 379 times, leaving the league just 12 goals away from the 9,000 mark, which is expected to be broken in the upcoming rounds. The club with the most goals in league history is 'Al Ain', with 905 goals, reflecting the attacking prowess of 'The Leader'. 'Al Ain' also holds the record for the most goals in a single season, achieved in the 2012-2013 season with 74 goals. Conversely, 'Kalba' holds the record for the fewest goals in a season, with only 17 goals in the 2014-2015 season. In second place for goals scored is 'Al Jazira' with 892 goals. This is largely due to the club's legend, Ali Mabkhout, who scored 218 goals for 'Al Jazira', accounting for nearly 25% of the club's total goals. Despite 'Al Ahli Dubai's' impressive attacking form this season (48 goals), the club sits third in the all-time list with 832 goals. They are followed by 'Al Wahda' (786 goals) and 'Al Wasl' (675 goals). Laba Kodjo is close to a new achievement 'Al Ain's' star, Togolese striker Laba Kodjo, who leads the top scorers' chart with 19 goals, is on the verge of a new record that will solidify his status as the most decorated top scorer in the league's history. He can achieve this by ending the season as the top scorer, having already won the title in the 2018-2019, 2021-2022, 2022-2023, and 2024-2025 seasons. Kodjo currently leads his closest rival, Syrian 'Al Wahda' forward Omar Khribin, by five goals (14 goals). Ali Mabkhout remains the record holder for goals in a single season, scoring 33 goals in the 2015-2016 season. 'Al Ahli Dubai' on the verge of a new record This season, 'Al Ahli Dubai' has a real chance to break the record for the best defense in league history. After 20 rounds, 'The Knights' have conceded only seven goals. This increases the team's chances of breaking the previous record set by 'Al Wahda' in the 2009-2010 season (15 goals conceded). On the other hand, 'Al Shabab' (before merging with 'Al Sharjah') holds the anti-record for goals conceded in a single season, with its net conceding 71 goals.
