Chelsea Legend John Terry Close to Colchester United Takeover

Chelsea legend and former England captain John Terry is close to announcing a takeover deal for Colchester United. An investment group, including Terry, is set to acquire the club, which competes in the second tier of English football and is based in Essex, for around 14 million pounds. Terry is expected to join a list of global celebrities who have invested in English clubs, such as Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, owners of Wrexham, Will Ferrell, who has a stake in Leeds United, and rapper Snoop Dogg, a shareholder in Swansea City. A source familiar with the matter stated that the deal has in the works for some time, and John Terry is very excited about the prospect of trying his hand at management. Terry's nephew, Frankie Terry (22), also plays for Colchester, which currently holds a mid-table position. Historically, the club has had its moments of glory: in 1992, they won the FA Cup, beating Wigan Athletic 3-1 at Wembley, and in 1971, they stunned everyone by knocking out Leeds United 3-2 in the fifth round. Terry is known for his passion for supporting smaller clubs and helping them gain the recognition they deserve.
