Investing in National Coaches: Key to Emirati Football Development

Raid Al-Bloushi, coach of the Al-Nasr reserve team (under 23), stated that investing in national coaches in the reserve league and First Division is a crucial step in the development of Emirati football. He emphasized that national coaches have achieved remarkable success in these competitions, as well as in youth age groups, due to their deep understanding of Emirati football. Al-Bloushi added that the results achieved by national and foreign coaches are often comparable, which highlights the importance of providing national coaches with the same opportunities and attention. Regarding his experience with Al-Nasr, he said: "We currently occupy 10th place with 26 points, a position that reflects the parity in the reserve league. However, our main focus has been on discovering and developing talents, and we have successfully introduced several promising players, which is one of the primary goals for reserve teams." Al-Bloushi also pointed out that the reserve league and First Division provide an ideal environment for the development of national coaches, allowing them to experiment with new methods and build a unique coaching identity. He stressed that these competitions help refine coaching skills by providing ample time to test different strategies and develop leadership abilities. Concluding, Al-Bloushi noted that the competition with foreign coaches poses additional challenges for national coaches, especially due to limited opportunities for training at higher levels, which necessitates continuous support from clubs and sports bodies. He also mentioned that Al-Nasr is currently focusing on discovering and nurturing young talents.
