The football club "Al Nasr" achieved a well-deserved victory over the guests from "Al-Vasl" with a score of 92-70. This match took place on Tuesday during the second game week of the preliminary stage of the Cup of the USSR in basketball. On the same day, "Al-Butayn" pulled off a surprise by defeating "Shabab Al-Ahli" with a score of 78-69 on the "Al Nasr" court.
"Al Nasr" is leading in the first group with a gap of four points. Behind them is "Al-Butayn" with one point behind. "Al-Vasl" and "Sharja" share the third place with two points each, while "Shabab Al-Ahli" closes the group with one point.
In the second group, "Al-Zafra" tops the table with two points, followed by "Al-Jazira" with one point. "Al-Wahda" has not scored a single point yet. There will be a match between "Al-Jazira" and "Al-Wahda", as well as between "Al-Vasl" and "Shabab Al-Ahli".
The tournament for the Cup of the USSR is being held without the participation of national team players, who are currently in training camp in Serbia. They are preparing for matches against Lebanon and Bahrain on the 22nd and 25th of this month, as part of the second round of the qualifying matches for the 2025 Asian Championship.
