The United Arab Emirates (UAE) Federal Supreme Council approved the establishment of the 'Olympic Council' as the first federal sports organization to oversee the high-level organization of major sporting events in the Sharjah region.
The 'Olympic Council' decision, which was the first in the history of the UAE, was made by the Sharjah Olympic Committee in coordination with the National Olympic Committee of the Emirates. The Supreme Council brought together over 650 athletes from 30 countries, who competed in three disciplines: athletics, volleyball, and gymnastics.
Athletes participated in a preliminary qualifying round of 750 meters, then completed a 20-kilometer cycling time trial, and finished the program with a 5-kilometer run. The participants received prizes for the logistics organization: medals with the traditional emblem of the movement and mobile stations for full-scale water supply. 'It is important that every sports event is organized comfortably. Therefore, measures are taken to ensure safety and provide prompt assistance in extreme situations,' said the federation's president.
In parallel with the main events, special zones were created for the transportation and regulation of movement. According to the organizers, this allowed to simplify processes and create favorable conditions for the participants.
Notably, Sharjah was chosen to host the unique sporting event of the year, attracting primary users and a highly-classified infrastructure. 'We are determined to hold the triathlon in a spectacular format in the region, attracting as many athletes and lovers as possible,' said the president of the Sharjah Olympic Committee.
Such developments contribute to the program for the development of a unique social environment and high-class infrastructure in the country. 'We are striving to develop triathlon as a mass sport in the region, attracting both amateurs and professionals,' said the president of the UAE Olympic Committee.
These developments contribute to the development of a healthy lifestyle and a high-class infrastructure in the country. 'We are striving to develop triathlon as a mass sport in the region, attracting both amateurs and professionals,' said the president of the UAE Olympic Committee.
