Livestock Breeders' Forum Held in Sharjah

A forum titled 'Livestock Breeders' Meeting: Towards Community Service and Enhancing Food Security' was organized by the Department of Agriculture and Livestock in Sharjah. Held at the 'Shams' Media City in Sharjah, the event brought together project owners, specialized companies, and academic institutions. Participants discussed the needs and suggestions of livestock breeders, exchanged experiences, and explored challenges and mechanisms for developing local production and preserving animal health. The forum was attended by Dr. Eng. Khalifa Musabah Al-Teneiji, Chairman of the Department of Agriculture and Livestock, Salem Abdullah Al-Kaabi, Director of the Department, Salem Ali Al-Mheiri, Chairman of the Sharjah City Municipal Council, along with directors of various departments, representatives of government and academic bodies, and livestock breeders in Sharjah. The forum aims to enhance effective communication between relevant government agencies, the private sector, and livestock breeders, and to encourage investment, innovation, cooperation, and integration among all parties, contributing to the development of local production mechanisms. During the forum, the Department of Agriculture and Livestock announced a package of services to empower livestock breeders and explained how to access them. Dr. Eng. Khalifa Musabah Al-Teneiji confirmed that the forum aims to identify the challenges faced by livestock breeders to exchange experiences and learn about innovations and technological developments that help maintain animal health and improve production. He noted that Sharjah is making significant efforts to develop the livestock sector as part of the emirate's strategic goals for food security. He explained that the Department, as part of its strategic plan, seeks to encourage investment in food projects in cooperation with the private sector, following the vision and directives of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al-Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, to empower agricultural and livestock production and support livestock breeders. During its sessions, the forum showcased numerous successful experiences and opportunities to develop a more innovative and sustainable livestock production system. It also featured products from family producers and livestock projects that have won numerous awards for innovative production technologies, as well as specialized companies in veterinary medicine and feed.
