Passenger and Cargo Growth at Sharjah Airport

Sharjah International Airport reported significant passenger and flight growth in 2025, exceeding previous years' figures. Cargo handling volumes also showed steady positive growth, strengthening the airport's position as a key regional logistics hub.


Passenger and Cargo Growth at Sharjah Airport

Sharjah International Airport Authority announced yesterday that the airport received 19.48 million passengers last year, compared to 17.1 million passengers in 2024, and 15.36 million passengers in 2023, achieving a growth of 13.9% compared to 2024. The Authority stated in a statement yesterday that the total number of flights through the airport increased to 116,657 flights in 2025, compared to 107,760 flights in 2024, and 98,433 flights in 2023, recording a growth of 8.3%. Air cargo operations at Sharjah Airport continued to achieve growth during the past year, as the total cargo handling volume reached 204,323 tons compared to 195,909 tons in 2024, and 141,358 tons in 2023. Meanwhile, sea cargo services via Sharjah Airport recorded growth over the past three years, with the handling volume reaching 12,566 tons in 2023, 14,035 tons in 2024, and 16,770 tons in 2025. Chairman of Sharjah International Airport Authority, Ali Salem Al Midfa, said: "The results achieved in 2025 reflect the success of the airport's long-term strategy and its continuous commitment to operational excellence, which is embodied in the continuous increase in the number of passengers and air cargo volumes, in line with its goals to enhance capacity, elevate service quality, and support the economic and tourism aspirations of the Emirate of Sharjah." He added: "The continuous investment in infrastructure, digital systems, and sustainability initiatives represents a fundamental pillar in the airport's growth path, alongside expanding the network of partnerships with airlines and logistics operators." For his part, Sheikh Faisal bin Saud Al Qasimi, Director of Sharjah International Airport Authority, said: "The 2025 results reflect the advanced role the airport plays in supporting travel and business activities, which enhances Sharjah's position as a pivotal destination on the map of regional and international markets." He pointed out that "this growth is based on an integrated system that includes advanced infrastructure, effective operational governance, and a supportive regulatory environment, which allows Sharjah Airport to respond to the increasing movement efficiently while maintaining high levels of service quality and reliability."
