Launch of Sharjah Creative District Announced

Sheikh Khur bin Sultan al-Qasimi, Chairman of the Sharjah Foundation for Arts and Chairman of the Sharjah Exhibition for Creativity, confirmed that the launch of the project "Sharjah Creative Quarter" in the Emirates will be one of its most vibrant residential areas, filled with the spirit of arts and creativity. She expressed optimism regarding this project, praising the creative imagination and broad perspectives, inspired by the project and the main foundation of the grand project His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammed al-Qasimi, member of the Supreme Council and ruler of Sharjah. The Sharjah Creative Quarter for Creativity is located in the very center of the Sharjah area, where the educational and research institutions are located, as well as in close proximity to the University of Sharjah and the Sharjah Institute for Research, Technology, and Innovation. The Sharjah government aims to make the area an oasis for creators and a platform for exchanging ideas and developing innovative projects, capable of serving humanity, the surrounding environment, and society at both local and global levels. The Sharjah Creative Quarter for Creativity will incorporate various interconnected buildings, serving all talented individuals and providing them with free space to express their ideas in life. The Quarter will include: the Sheikh Jawaher Art Museum bin Muhammed al-Qasimi, specifically created for the personal artifacts of Her Highness Sheikh Jawaher bin Muhammed al-Qasimi, Chairwoman of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs of Sharjah, which includes Islamic ornaments and various works of art. There will also be the "Kasim Archive," celebrating the legacy of Sheikh Khalid al-Qasimi, founder of the "Kasim" brand in Parisian fashion, which aims to bridge a new generation of designers and use fashion as a means of dialogue and cultural exchange, and the "Shargi Labs for Fashion Development," proposing international best practices in the development of models, creating digital samples, developing original models, and training local designers to meet global production standards through access to specialized services, advanced equipment, and technological innovations. The project includes the "Historical Museum," one of the initiatives of the Council for Contemporary Art, aimed at strengthening the emirate's cultural and regional identity and supporting women artisans by preserving artisanal technologies and representing them in contemporary design. Additionally, there will be the "Sharjah Design Center," which engages in the creation and testing of initial models, including products and research projects, as well as archival materials and innovation integrations showcasing outstanding achievements in the field of design and production, such as woodworking, ceramics, metallurgy, textiles, jewelry making, and other artistic elements. Moreover, the area will be home to "Likola," the Youth Jewelry School with the support of the Youth Home Van Cliff End Apple, aiming to become a training hub in Sharjah and the second in the Gulf. The Sharjah Creative Quarter for Creativity does everything possible to ensure a rich environment for ideas, stimulating creativity through its complex design, integrating green zones, related buildings, and living structures, including cafes, restaurants, shops, and shared workspaces, creating a productive space for inspiration and productivity. The company "Taller di Arquitectura," represented by creative architect Mauricio Rocha, who has extensive experience in the design and realization of large cultural projects, such as the Anyaquel Museum and the College of the Visual Arts in Mexico, has strengthened its reputation as an expert in the field of museum and cultural infrastructure. In the context of the project's design, Sheikh Khur expressed confidence in the selection of the company, which was appointed to develop the project, emphasizing that the choice of "Taller di Arquitectura - Mauricio Rocha" stems from their design philosophy and extensive experience in planning museum and community infrastructure with an ambitious view of the Sharjah Creative Quarter as a living center of creativity, connections, and collaborations. The design of the company reflects a sustainable future based on sustainability and innovations, especially since ecological and clean construction materials, such as rammed earth, were chosen for the project, and complex design technologies are being utilized, aiming to achieve harmony between natural and artificial elements, ensuring a rich and sustainable experience for creators and visitors, reflecting the project's principles of ecological sustainability. It should be noted that His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammed al-Qasimi issued a blessing for the creation of the area and the designation of Sheikh Khur bin Sultan al-Qasimi as the Chairman of the Sharjah Foundation for Arts and the project director.
