The International Center for the Arabic Language in Sharjah has announced the start of accepting applications for the eighth cycle of the "Sharjah Prize" in Linguistics and Lexicography for the year 2025. The aim of the award is to promote and support research in the fields of linguistics and lexicography, to highlight and reward outstanding works that enrich linguistic and lexicographic studies, and also to strengthen the position of the Arabic language in the academic world. The final deadline for submitting applications is June 30 of the current year.

The prize is awarded annually and amounts to 100,000 USD, distributed among four winners equally for the two categories of research. The first place in each category receives 30,000 USD, while the second place receives 20,000. This initiative facilitates the development of specialized research in the Arabic language, attracting attention to the latest methods of linguistic and lexicographic analysis.

The main theme of the eighth prize cycle covers two key categories: linguistic research and textual studies, as well as lexicography, focusing on the composition of dictionaries for Arabic language terms. The goal is to support contemporary linguistic research that combines traditional language studies with the latest scientific approaches.

The Secretary-General of the Center for Arabic Language in Sharjah, Dr. Muhammad Safi Al-Musaigani, noted: "The eighth prize cycle of the 'Sharjah' award in linguistics and lexicography aims to delve into the rich layers of the Arabic language, uncovering its secrets through texts, reflecting its distinctive characteristics, highlighting its linguistic uniqueness, enriched with spiritual values and non-material structure, which makes it invaluable and irreplaceable."
