
During the framework of the third session of the "Shardja Animation Conference 2025", issues of the protection of intellectual property in animation projects and the development of local platforms for content distribution considering the cultural specifics of the region were discussed. Participants expressed the view that new technologies, such as artificial intelligence, can accelerate production, but do not replace human creativity.
The importance of developing a sustainable infrastructure to support local production and increasing the global presence of creative voices was noted as a key factor in the development of the animation industry at both regional and global levels. Founders of animation studios from various countries participated in the discussion.
Zumrut Bakuie from Warner Bros. Discovery emphasized the importance of supporting high-quality local content as a priority while preserving cultural identity in favor of market profits. Abdalahiz Osman, the general director of Zeez Animation studio in Saudi Arabia, highlighted the need for a comprehensive production system and sustainable financing, citing the experience of successful partnerships as a primary source of funding.
Tarek Ali from the "Zand" studio in Egypt underscored the importance of utilizing the cinematic heritage of Egypt for creating content while adhering to legislation regarding the protection of intellectual property. Raymond Malinga shared the successful experience of penetrating the global markets with the studio "Kreatures" from Uganda, where the focus was on cultural and linguistic representation. Damiloa Soleisi pointed out the lack of financing in Nigeria, despite the large number of young talents, and advocated for creating educational and legislative environments that allow talents to access production resources.
