Sharjah Introduces Extended Care Leave for Mothers

The government of the Emirate of Sharjah has introduced a new policy proposing extended leave, known as "Care Leave", to support female employees who give birth to a child with medical problems or disabilities. Approved by His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, a member of the Supreme Council and the ruler of Sharjah, the new leave is called the working mother's respite, aimed at helping working mothers with their newborns who require constant assistance.

"Care Leave" begins to take effect after the completion of maternity leave and can be extended with the permission of the relevant authority. This was stated by the chairman of the Sharjah Human Resources Department, Abdul Ibrahim Al Zaabi, during a telephone interview on the program "Straight Line" on Sharjah Radio and TV.
