The 15th Sharjah International Publishers Conference (SIPC) has opened in Sharjah, preceding the 44th Sharjah International Book Fair. The event brings together 1258 publishers from 116 countries. Sheikha Bodour bint Sultan Al Qasimi, Chairperson of the Sharjah Book Authority, inaugurated the conference, emphasizing it as an opportunity to connect with world cultures and explore common ground. Jovanka Jobava, President of the International Publishers Association (IPA), stated that publishers' ability to connect authors with readers, spread education, and inspire people is greater than ever, thanks to technological advancements. Madeline McIntosh, Co-Founder & CEO of Authors Equity, highlighted that books represent the essence of human thought through the ages and are the primary weapon of culture. She stressed that a book's strength lies not just in its story, but in the author who creates a lasting impact. The conference also features key initiatives like the 'Exhibitors' Wall', showcasing innovative solutions in printing, digital distribution, AI, and targeted advertising, and a 'Boardroom Exchange' program for networking with industry leaders.
