In artistic production, we cannot surprise people from other cultures if we offer them something familiar to them. We surprise them when we create a work that expresses us and reveals what makes our experiences unique. This was confirmed by Emirati writer and screenwriter Muhammad Hassan Ahmed during a session titled 'In Search of Humanity', as part of the 'Behind the Scenes' initiative. This initiative is organized by Sharjah Public Libraries during their participation in the Sharjah International Book Fair. Regarding what distinguishes screenwriting from storytelling, Ahmed said: 'We tell stories every day, so even when I describe my pain to a doctor, I am actually telling a story. Life is one big story, from which billions of other stories branch out. But when we decide to turn it into a screenplay, the matter goes beyond narration to become a complete artistic work.'
