A number of writers and producers confirmed that turning a novel into a successful dramatic work requires full cooperation between the writer, literary agent, and producer to ensure the preservation of the spirit of the text. This came during a dialogue session titled "From Page to Screen: How Words Turn into Scenes That Captivate the World", as part of the events of the 44th edition of the Sharjah International Book Fair. During the session, Tamir Saeid, Director of the Sharjah Literature Agency, producer Lama Al-Sabah, and writer and screenwriter Nadine Jabbar spoke. In his speech during the session, Tamir Saeid said: "The relationship between the novel and the dramatic work is not a separation between two art forms, but rather one extension of the creative process." Producer Lama Al-Sabah said: "The meeting of literature and art places a double responsibility on drama makers to search for fine details; because turning a novel into a visual work requires condensing hundreds of pages into scenes of sound and image that express the spirit of the original text." Writer and screenwriter Nadine Jabbar confirmed that writing for women gives her a wider creative space, because she is able to understand her feelings and emotions with depth, explaining that she seeks through her works to give a voice to every voiceless person.
Cooperation to Preserve the Spirit of the Novel
Writers and producers at the Sharjah Book Fair discussed that successful adaptation requires close collaboration between the author, agent, and creators to preserve the essence of the work.
