Greek writer and translator Persa Komoutsi stated that her participation in the 44th Sharjah International Book Fair stems from deep human bonds that have connected her to the UAE on a spiritual level, after she translated three poetry collections by Emirati authors: Njoom Al-Ghanim, Ibrahim Al-Hashemi, and Khlood Al-Maalla. Komoutsi added: "The experience of translating Emirati poets was a window through which I could view the literary scene and social reality of the region, rich in its cultural heritage." Komoutsi continued that Arab generosity, the warmth of hospitality, and the sincere desire to get to know the other culturally were the most prominent inspirations for her to visit Sharjah and participate in this global event.
