As part of his musical project «Heritage Symphonies», through which he seeks to reshape Yemeni memory with an artistic method that combines local heritage with global musical structure, Yemeni maestro Muhammad Al-Qahoom presented an exceptional musical evening within the program of the Sharjah International Book Fair, which concluded yesterday.
The concert was attended by a large audience of lovers of authentic music, who interacted with the songs presented by the orchestra over two hours.
The evening began with an entrance moment filled with the Yemeni folk vocal spirit, as the percussion group toured the audience, performing «Al-Hajer» and «Al-Marawis» to the rhythm of the Hadrami dance «Dhan», adding a warmth that made the audience feel as if the performance was emanating from the heart of the place itself.
The concert relied on blending authentic Yemeni rhythms with a complete orchestral structure that used Western instruments such as the violin, cello, and flute, alongside the oud, nay, and drums. With this East-West fusion, Al-Qahoom presented an artistic model that achieves its most difficult equation: a heritage that does not separate from its roots but breathes in a global space.
