Sharjah will host the 26th edition of the Islamic Arts Festival, starting tomorrow at the Sharjah Art Museum. The event will feature 114 activities and 473 works by 170 artists from 24 countries over 70 days. According to Mohamed Ibrahim Al-Qasimi, Director of the Sharjah Department of Culture, the festival, themed 'Siraj' (Lantern), embodies the vision of Sharjah's ruler in promoting arts as a civilizational message. The festival will be held in collaboration with 27 Sharjah entities, including the Sharjah Art Museum, the College of Fine Arts and Design at the University of Sharjah, and the Emirates Plastic Arts Society. The program includes 52 exhibitions across various venues, such as the Sharjah Museum of Islamic Civilization and the Khor Fakkan Amphitheatre. Parallel solo exhibitions will feature works by artists from the UAE, Kuwait, Turkey, and Iran, alongside collaborative projects exploring themes of light, knowledge, and Islamic heritage.
