The ninth edition of the Sharjah Desert Theatre Festival concluded the day before yesterday, with the final night's audience watching the play «Coal of Wrath», written by Faisal Jawad and directed by Abdulrahman Al Mulla, performed by the Kalba Arts and Theatre Association. The play depicts a realistic drama in which sincere feelings of love intertwine with motives of envy and jealousy. The performance featured a select group of actors, including Juma Ali, Faisal Al Dermechi, Amal Mohammed, Abir Al Jassmi, Shaban Sbeit, Mohammed Juma, Khoud Al Bidioui, Adel Sbeit, Fawzia Maarouf, Samia Tafsarout, and Johar Al Matroushi. Following the performance, a critical discussion was moderated by researcher Wafa Al Shamsi from Oman. Participants praised the significant youth presence in the cast and commended the quality of the script and the depth of the directorial vision, which matched the festival's unique atmosphere. Organized by the Department of Culture, the festival began on the evening of December 12th and featured six theatrical performances from the UAE, Qatar, Jordan, Egypt, and Libya. The festival also included a diverse intellectual and critical program with the participation of a select group of researchers and theatre practitioners, in addition to several competitions and interactive activities that saw wide public attendance.
