The Sharjah Book Authority has announced a new chapter in the journey of the Sharjah Animation Conference, expanding its specialization and scope, and launching its new visual identity under the name «Sharjah Animation and Comics Conference». This embodies the Authority's commitment to enhancing Sharjah's cultural presence and affirms the emirate's dedication to enriching creative industries and leading in storytelling in all its forms.
The «Sharjah Animation and Comics Conference 2026» will be held from March 26 to 29, featuring an extensive program that includes larger platforms and wider exhibition spaces. The conference updates include the launch of a new platform called «Comics Animation and Comics Market», a step to expand professional opportunities for creators in the sector.
Additionally, the conference will launch the first official census of cartoonists, writers, animators, and Arab creators working across the region. The census aims to create the first comprehensive map of the creative community in the region.
Khawla Al-Majini, the Executive Director of the Conference, stated: «Developing the conference reflects the Sharjah Book Authority's commitment to transitioning from a phase of supporting talents to enabling technical, cultural, and economic empowerment based on data. These steps represent a practical response to the needs of creators and a direct enhancement of the presence of Arabic content in global markets, originating from Sharjah».
The conference events will kick off on March 26.
