Sharjah Announces Series of Cinematic and Culinary Evenings

Al Wala House, the cultural destination in the heart of Sharjah, announced the launch of an exclusive series of 'Cinema and Flavors' evenings, offering the public a unique cultural experience that combines the arts of cinema and culinary creations in one of the emirate's most attractive venues. The event is held in collaboration with 'Cinema Akil' and with the support of the International Photography Festival 'Expozar', which is dedicated to storytelling through images. The evenings will take place on weekends, Fridays and Saturdays, from January 16th to 31st, and will be held in the renovated courtyard of Al Wala House, where the public can gather in an ideal atmosphere to watch carefully curated films, accompanied by a dining experience that meets the expectations of connoisseurs. The program ensures that guests enjoy an immersive cultural evening, where inspiring cinematic creations engage in a dialogue with exceptional tasting experiences on a journey that embodies memory and place in the world of the seventh art. Sheikha Bodour bint Sultan Al Qasimi, the visionary behind Al Wala House, stated: 'Al Wala House represents an extension of the vision of the Emirate of Sharjah in preserving cultural memory and presenting it in contemporary ways.' She noted that the 'Cinema and Flavors' evenings provide a space where cinematic art meets culinary experiences in a single context, enhancing cultural dialogue and giving the audience an opportunity to interact with stories as a comprehensive experience that combines image, memory of place, and taste. Alya Al Suwaidi, Director of the Sharjah Government Media Bureau, emphasized the importance of the partnership between Al Wala House and Expozar, which has completed a decade of storytelling, to present the 'Cinema and Flavors' evenings as part of quality cultural experiences that combine cinema and culinary arts in line with the goals and message of the International Photography Festival. The 'Cinema and Flavors' experience is designed to encourage quiet dialogue and shared discovery, allowing guests to listen, taste, and reflect, while Cinema Akil screens a spectrum of films that tell the stories and visions of the region, accompanied by dishes whose flavors match the ambiance of the films and the countries and themes they portray. Buthina Kazem from Cinema Akil pointed out that 'Cinema and Flavors' has a unique ability to transport us through memory and emotions. 'At Cinema Akil, we have always believed in the power of films to broaden our horizons and reshape our ways of understanding the world. We are delighted to return to Sharjah in partnership with Al Wala House and Expozar to bring these converging visions together in one experience where storytelling, heritage, and hospitality meet in a shared space.'
