Kalamat Group concluded its participation in the second edition of the Sharjah African Literature Festival, organized by the Sharjah Book Authority under the slogan 'On the Steps of Africa.' The group presented a single booth that brought together Kalamat Publishing and its subsidiary Rawayat Publishing, to showcase a selection of publications that shed light on Africa through narrative storytelling, history, fiction, and the human experience. Kalamat Group also contributed to the festival's cultural program this year through dialogue and discussion sessions that brought together writers from the United Arab Emirates and Africa, particularly Zimbabwean novelist and short-story writer Tsitsi Dangarembga, winner of the 'Sharjah for Literary Appreciation' award. The sessions aimed to enhance cultural exchange and strengthen literary ties between the UAE and the countries of the African continent. Ahmed Ali, Editor-in-Chief and Managing Director of Kalamat Group, stated: 'Kalamat Group's participation in the Sharjah African Literature Festival served as a platform for multidirectional cultural exchange; it gave readers the opportunity to get closer to Africa as it writes about itself, with the multiplicity of its voices, the richness of its literary works, and the depth of its human narratives.' Ali added: 'We worked on building a reading path for all age groups and introducing African culture, which celebrates identity and memory, through our booth that brought together Kalamat and Rawayat, and our participation in the festival's cultural program, in line with the vision of the Emirate of Sharjah, its civilizational project, and its efforts to build sustainable literary bridges between the Arab world and Africa, and to support the movement of publishing and translation.'
