35th Sharjah Theatre Days Festival Concludes in Sharjah

A grand closing ceremony was held for the 35th Sharjah Theatre Days festival. The Ruler of Sharjah, Sheikh Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, presented awards to top artists and productions, honoring the contributions of veteran theatre figures to the nation's cultural life. The festival was a highlight of the Arab theatre world.

His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, attended the closing ceremony of the 35th Sharjah Theatre Days festival at the Palace of Culture yesterday evening, in the presence of His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Salem bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah. His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah honored the veteran artists: Kuwaiti artist Mohammad Jabbar, winner of the 19th Sharjah Award for Theatrical Creativity, and Emirati artist Jamal Al Sumaiti, a honored local figure. His Highness and the audience watched two video presentations that highlighted the careers of the honored artists, shedding light on their rich journey and significant contributions to enriching and developing theatre, as well as showcasing their pioneering works that have left a clear mark on the cultural and artistic scene. The presentations also reviewed the key artistic milestones that shaped their experiences and the influential roles they portrayed on stage, in addition to their efforts in supporting young talents and contributing to establishing the status of Emirati theatre at local and Arab levels. His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Salem Al Qasimi honored the winners of the 35th Sharjah Theatre Days awards. The award for the Best Theatrical Production went to "Her Karmousha" by the National Theatre of Sharjah. The award for Best Director went to actress Elyam Mohammad for "Half Layla" by the Khorfakkan Arts Theatre troupe. The award for Best Playwright went to writer Ismail Abdullah for "Her Karmousha". The award for Best Actor in a Leading Role went to Abdullah Al Khadem for his role in "Dictionary of Disappearances". The award for Best Actress in a Leading Role went to Sara Al Saadi for her role in "Her Karmousha". The award for Best Actor in a Supporting Role went to Shaban Sabit for "Ghayahib Al Rouh". The award for Best Actress in a Supporting Role went to Badriya Al Ali for "Half Layla". The award for Most Promising Actor went to Mansour Al Zaabi for "Gar Ikhtiar Al Awn". The award for Distinguished Arab Artist went to Amani Bulayj for "Half Layla". The Special Jury Award went to Dubai People's Theatre troupe for "Sona". The award for Best Set Design went to Waleed Omeran for "Her Karmousha". The award for Best Makeup went to Naser Al Mamari for "Half Layla". The award for Best Lighting went to Majed Al Mayni for "Her Karmousha". For "Ghayahib Al Rouh", Ibrahim Al Amiri won for Best Music and Sound Effects, and Ubair Al Jasmi won for Best Costumes and Accessories. The closing ceremony was also attended by Sheikh Dr. Salem bin Abdulrahman Al Qasimi, Head of the Ruler's Office, and Abdullah Mohammed Al Owais, Head of the Culture Department, Mohammed Obaid Al Zaabi, Head of the Protocol and Hospitality Department, and a number of senior officials, artists, media professionals, and theatre personalities. Elyam Mohammad wins Best Director for "Half Layla". Best Playwright goes to Ismail Abdullah for "Her Karmousha". Abdullah Al Khadem is Best Actor in a Leading Role, and Sara Al Saadi is Best Actress in a Leading Role.
