The Arab Organization for Education, Culture and Science (ALECSO) has appointed Sheikha Hoor bint Sultan Al Qasimi as Goodwill Ambassador for Arab Culture for the years 2025–2026, in recognition of her pioneering role in supporting contemporary arts and fostering cultural dialogue between communities at the regional and international levels.Dr. Mohamed Ould Amar, Director General of ALECSO, presented Sheikha Hoor with her credentials and a medal as Goodwill Ambassador during her appointment ceremony held this morning in the Africa Hall in Sharjah, in the presence of a number of heads of departments and government entities in Sharjah.In her speech, Sheikha Hoor said: "From the moment we took our first step in the Emirate of Sharjah, culture was our path and our destination. And the bet on building a person with his ancient history and civilizational identity was the bet that His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, made to shape his cultural project with its human dimensions, which became our path and guide in building a fruitful life whose foundation is culture and whose structure is knowledge."She added: "I stand before you, and my heart is filled with immense gratitude for this honor bestowed upon me by the Arab Organization for Education, Culture and Sciences (ALECSO), by appointing me as Goodwill Ambassador for Arab Culture and entrusting me with this noble mission. I pray to God Almighty to help me accomplish it in the best possible way, and to empower me, with your support and solidarity, to deepen our desired civilizational role, drawing from our rich cultural history."She confirmed that this mandate is not an individual one, but rather a call for joint action for an Arab future that is more aware, just, and humane. She stated that the ALECSO Ambassadors for Culture program forms an inspiring roadmap of what culture can achieve when it transforms from an idea into action, and from celebrating heritage into investing in people, thereby reclaiming its role in development and education, and in rebuilding collective consciousness on the values of beauty, creativity, and tolerance.Dr. Mohamed Ould Amar, in his speech, noted that the organization launched the "Arab Culture Ambassadors" initiative to honor prominent figures in the fields of culture, thought, and arts, to be ambassadors for the organization's message and its values of creativity, peace, and coexistence, and to contribute to enhancing the presence of Arab culture in regional and international forums.He expressed his appreciation and gratitude to Sheikha Hoor bint Sultan Al Qasimi for accepting this mandate and for her sincere efforts in nurturing creativity and promoting cultural dialogue among peoples, emphasizing that her appointment as Goodwill Ambassador for Arab Culture reflects the high status that the United Arab Emirates holds in the Arab and international cultural scenes, and its leading role in promoting shared human values and serving the causes of culture and sustainable development.He affirmed the organization's commitment to continuing to work with Sheikha Hoor in implementing cultural programs and initiatives that make culture a fundamental driver of sustainable development and a cornerstone for strengthening the values of coexistence and human understanding in the Arab world.The ceremony concluded with a performance by the Sharjah Zainab troupe, which presented a collection of traditional songs that evoke the sea in the UAE's cultural heritage.
