Sharjah Football Club has announced the signing of Portuguese coach Jose Mourinho to take charge of the first team for the remainder of the current 2025-2026 season and the following 2026-2027 season.

The new Sharjah coach boasts an impressive resume and extensive coaching experience with several European clubs, working as an assistant to Portuguese coach Jose Mourinho at Inter Milan, Real Madrid, and Chelsea. Additionally, he has held technical leadership positions at Arab, Asian, and African clubs, including Al-Hilal, Al-Shabab, and Al-Hazm in Saudi Arabia, Espérance in Tunisia, Al-Wahda in the UAE, Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors in South Korea, and Sepahan in Iran.

Mourinho has won 6 titles in his career, winning the league and cup with Jeonbuk Hyundai in 2019 and 2020, securing the Saudi Pro League shield with Al-Hilal in 2021, and previously being crowned the Saudi Super Cup with Al-Shabab in 2015. Most recently, he won the Iranian Hazfi Cup with Sepahan in 2024.

Ibrahim Salim Sambak, a member of Sharjah's board of directors and head of the football company, expressed his happiness at completing the contract with Portuguese coach Jose Mourinho, hoping that this step will contribute to strengthening the team's stability in line with the club's plans and future vision.

In a press statement, Sambak revealed that the deal with Mourinho was concluded according to the standards adhered to by the Sharjah Sports Club's board of directors, with full commitment to professional standards in the negotiation and contract drafting process. He refuted malicious and irresponsible rumors regarding the recruitment of the new Sharjah coach, emphasizing that negotiations with Mourinho began only after he had ended his relationship with his former club and became available to receive offers and sign with any other club.
