Faraj Ben Njema: A Special Ramadan for the Footballer in the UAE

Umm Al Quwain player Faraj Ben Njema from Tunisia stated that this year's Ramadan holds a special significance for him after he brought his parents to the United Arab Emirates to spend the holy month by his side. This step has brought back the warmth of family that he misses throughout the football season due to his inability to travel to Tunisia because of his commitments with the team. Ben Njema told 'Emirates Today' that having his parents with him in Umm Al Quwain has given him great psychological stability, noting that a professional footballer spends long periods away from his family, making family gatherings during Ramadan a special moment he looks forward to every year. He added: 'I made sure that my parents experience the atmosphere of this holy month here in Umm Al Quwain, because I miss them most of the year. Their presence near me during this period gives me great moral energy.' He pointed out that 'his mother insists daily on preparing traditional Tunisian dishes for the Iftar table, which creates an atmosphere completely similar to the one he experiences in his hometown.' He continued: 'The Iftar table in Ramadan has a different taste when it is prepared by the mother; she makes sure to prepare the Tunisian dishes I love, and this makes me feel the warmth of the family.' Ben Njema explained that his father accompanies him to some of Al Urooba's training sessions and makes sure to check on him closely, but he does not prefer to attend matches from the stadium, preferring to follow them on TV as he used to in Tunisia, where he lives the atmosphere of matches in his own way, following them calmly in front of the TV, and this has been his habit since I used to play in Tunisia. Ben Njema spoke about the atmosphere of Ramadan in the UAE, confirming that it is very close to the atmosphere in Tunisia, whether in terms of spirituality or social customs, explaining that the difference lies in the presence of the family and siblings gathered in Tunisia, as they take care during the holy month to exchange visits and gather at the Iftar and Suhoor tables, which strengthens family bonds. Regarding his journey with Al Urooba, the Tunisian player expressed his great happiness to be in the team, praising the family atmosphere within the club, which he described as one of the most prominent factors that helped him adapt quickly. He said: 'From the first day, I felt that I was in a family, whether from the management, the technical staff, or the players, and this matter made my task much easier and allowed me to focus only on giving my best on the field.' Ben Njeme confirmed that his desire is to continue with Al Urooba for as long as possible, given the stability the team is experiencing and the growing ambitions, emphasizing that the positive atmosphere in the dressing room directly reflects his continuation of his football journey within the Orange Castle. Regarding his absence from the starting lineup in some periods, he clarified that this is due primarily to a technical point of view, confirming his full respect for the technical staff's decisions. He said: 'In football, competition is strong, and every player strives to start, but I respect the technical choices, and I deal with any decision with a professional spirit, and I continue to work hard in training to be ready when the opportunity comes.' He added: 'The competition within the team serves Al Urooba's interest, because it raises the level of all players and gives the technical staff multiple options, so the team spirit remains the most prominent feature within the club, and it is what makes the team always appear in its best form in matches.' Regarding the team's performance this season, Ben Njeme confirmed that Al Urooba is experiencing one of its best periods, noting that the recent positive results have boosted the players' confidence in themselves and raised the ceiling of ambitions. He said: 'We are currently focused on ending the season among the top four, and if that is not achieved, we at least aspire to finish fifth, because the team has the capabilities that qualify it for that.' The Tunisian player revealed the secret of Al Urooba's recent brilliance, confirming that this is due to several factors, the most prominent of which are the medical readiness and the absence of injuries that affected the team in previous periods, as the physical stability helped the technical staff rely on the starting lineup for longer periods, which had a positive impact on the harmony on the field. Ben Njeme also praised the deals the club made, as Moroccan Yahya Jibrane added great strength to the midfield line thanks to his leadership personality and his experience in many Moroccan and Arab clubs, which reflected on the team's performance as a whole. Also, Brazilian Guilherme Peiro, who moved from Sharjah Club during the winter transfer window, with his high technical skills and his ability to make a difference in the attacking third, gave the team additional solutions, in addition to the role played by the Moroccan striker Walid Azaro in the front line, due to his experience and high scoring sense. Ben Njeme concluded his statements by saying that 'Al Urooba is on the right path, thanks to the collective work and family spirit that distinguishes the team', emphasizing that 'the next stage requires maintaining focus and continuing to work with the same spirit, in order to translate ambitions into a tangible achievement by the end of the season'.
