Dubai International Airport topped the list of the world's busiest airports in terms of total international and domestic flights in the region.
In February this year, Dubai International Airport recorded around 4.9 million scheduled seats on international flights (9.8 million seats in both directions), securing the top position among global airports and continuing to set new records, according to a report by OAG, the international provider of airport and airline data.
The organization noted that Dubai International Airport remained the world's busiest airport in February 2026, with a 2% increase in seat capacity compared to the same month last year, maintaining its international leadership.
Data indicates that Dubai Airport continues to achieve strong gains compared to last year's levels, with seat capacity increasing at consistent rates. The airport reached a record level during last year's summer peak and set another record in December 2025.
Airlines at Dubai Airport scheduled around 10.4 million seats (approximately 20.8 million in both directions) during the first two months of this year (January and February). This increase in seat capacity comes as airlines continuously expand their operations, coinciding with peak demand at the beginning of the new year, following strong performance in international traffic during the first nine months of 2025.
In the overall index (international and domestic flights), Dubai International Airport topped the global list. Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta Airport in the US came second with 4.6 million seats, followed by Shanghai Pudong Airport with 4.2 million seats, Tokyo Haneda in fourth place with 4.18 million seats, and Guangzhou Baiyun Airport in fifth place with about 4.16 million seats.
In the international flights only index, Dubai Airport also ranked first, followed by London Heathrow Airport with about 3.6 million seats, Seoul Airport in third place with about 3.5 million seats, Singapore Airport with about 3.4 million seats, and Hong Kong Airport in fifth place with about 3.2 million seats.
Dubai International Airport continued to break quarterly passenger traffic records in its 65-year history during the third quarter of 2025, welcoming 24.2 million passengers between July and September, representing growth of 1.9% compared to 2024.
This exceptional performance during the third quarter contributed to raising the total number of passengers during the first nine months to 70.1 million, an increase of 2.1% over the same period in 2024.
Dubai International Airport recorded the highest monthly passenger traffic in its history in December 2025, with about 8.8 million passengers passing through the airport, compared to 8.3 million passengers in December 2024.
Preliminary data shows that Dubai International Airport is on track to maintain its position as the world's largest airport in 2025 in terms of international passenger numbers, for the 12th consecutive year. Dubai Airports is expected to announce total passenger traffic figures for last year 2025 next week.
