UAE to Cover Accommodation Costs for Stranded Tourists

The government of the United Arab Emirates announced that it will cover the accommodation costs for those tourists who, due to travel restrictions or causes beyond their control, cannot leave the country on the scheduled date. This measure was communicated through the Abu Dhabi Department of Culture and Tourism (DCT Abu Dhabi) via an official circular addressed to hotel managers. Additionally, hotels must allow the stay of affected guests to be extended until they can travel. The expenses derived from that extension will be covered by the corresponding authority. It was also indicated that hotels must send the invoices related to these extended stays to the official email designated by the department, while for additional clarifications, a direct line with the business continuity team was enabled. This decision seeks to provide support to international visitors in the face of extraordinary circumstances that may prevent them from leaving the country, thus reinforcing the image of security and support for tourism in the Gulf nation.
