Protecting Banking Services from Breaches

Financial experts emphasize the importance of changing bank card PINs for restoring online services. Some banks temporarily disable accounts after incorrect login attempts to protect users' funds.

Protecting Banking Services from Breaches

According to banking experts, the restoration of electronic services requires changing the PIN code of the bank card used by the client. The change occurs through an ATM, after which the client attempts to log back into the application and use online services.

"Preferably, such actions should be standard for all banks, and not just for individual ones, to avoid the hacking of bank accounts," noted bank representatives. They reported that some banks block bank cards and applications if the client repeatedly enters incorrect account data to protect the account and the funds available on them.

This is a response to complaints from clients who reported the closure of bank cards and restricted access to applications due to incorrect entry of data for login. Makhmud Ghazi, a banking expert, noted that "not all banks can close bank cards, but all can temporarily restrict access to mobile applications or internet banking." He added that repeated incorrect data entry raises suspicions at the bank, which may lead to the card and electronic services being suspended until the client's identity is verified.

Mustafa Akhmed, also a representative of the banking sector, pointed out that "incorrect data entry in the mobile application or internet banking raises suspicions at banks, especially in cases of multiple attempts." According to him, the client should remember their account data; otherwise, it's better to disconnect internet banking until identity verification is confirmed.

The actions of banks that temporarily block cards are aimed at protecting clients, with the possibility of their re-activation through the service center, according to him.
