As of October 2024, the total number of registered users in the digital identification system reached approximately 9.8 million people. According to officials, the expansion of digital packages providing a wide range of digital services in various fields is planned, freeing people from the need to use paper and visit government institutions for operations.
As noted by engineer Said Bal-Khul, director of the Department of Digital Governance Operations in the Authority for Regulating Communications and Digital Governance, the total number of registered users in digital identity systems in the country reached 9.8 million people in the middle of last month. He shared that digital identification has become the basis for all-encompassing and expanded digital transformation in various regions of the country.
Quoting his words: "Digital identification enables the use of intelligent digital services for users on a broader scale," and he indicated that simple steps for registering in digital identification and the possibility of registration using biometric fingerprinting have become factors contributing to the increase in the number of registered users in digital identification to the present time.
Moreover, he noted other factors that support the expansion of registration and the use of digital identification on a large scale, including its use in financial institutions and banks to carry out operations in a larger volume compared to previous periods.
Bal-Khul emphasized that digital identification utilizes blockchain technology through digital wallets for the storage and exchange of digital documents, allowing users to request electronic copies of official documents and use them safely for carrying out operations and requesting services, which reduces the use of paper for operations, saves time, and increases efficiency when visiting government institutions.
