Schneider Electric, a global leader in digital transformation of energy management and automation, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with DP World, a leading provider of integrated logistics solutions worldwide, aimed at accelerating the qualification of Emirati youth in sustainable development and digital technologies. The signing ceremony took place in the presence of Jean-Pascal Tricoire, global president of Schneider Electric, and Abdulla bin Damitha, general director and managing director of DP World GCC. The MoU was signed by Mahy al-Kathtan, chief sustainability officer of DP World Group, and Amel Shadi, president of the Eastern Region of Schneider Electric.
As part of the agreement, Schneider Electric and DP World will cooperate under the "Exchange of Experience" program and the "Future Leaders of Sustainable Development" program. Within the framework of the "Exchange of Experience" program, three employees from each company will spend time in the partner organization to deepen knowledge exchange and increase cooperation in the field of sustainable business processes. In addition, the "Future Leaders of Sustainable Development" program, starting next year, will provide opportunities for selected groups of young graduates from the UAE to receive industry knowledge and practical experience for promoting sustainable development.
"We are proud to collaborate with DP World to support the next generation of talented Emirati specialists in the field of sustainable development and technologies. This will not only contribute to their personal development but also promote the UAE's vision to become a global leader in innovation and sustainable technologies, facilitating progress both locally and globally," noted Amel Shadi, president of the Eastern Region.
Mahha al-Kathtan, group chief sustainability officer of DP World, emphasized that they are leveraging their resources in DP World to create additional opportunities and overcome gaps in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. The collaboration of the companies complements Schneider Electric's ongoing initiatives in the UAE, including the "Tamayuz" program aimed at supporting Emirati graduates and stimulating women's participation in traditional sectors. DP World also launched a global educational platform this year, providing resources that focus on green, digital, STEM, and logistics skills, as part of its broader goal of investing $35 million in education by 2030. "We want to ensure that no one is left behind in conditions when the world reacts to the challenges of climate change, which underlines the need to equip youth with the tools and skills for success."
