At the Summit 2025 of the best engineers and architects of the Near East The Filipino Times Watchlist, Mohammad Arshad Ahmad, a leader in data science and founder of Decoding Data Science, discussed the role and influence of artificial intelligence (AI) on the professions of engineers and architects. In his presentation, he emphasized that AI is not meant to replace people, but rather to enhance their potential, regardless of rapid technological advancement.
"AI is merely part of technological evolution, not something that will make us obsolete," he stated. Ahmad urged the audience to start using AI in their work and highlighted a real-world example from ADNOC, one of the largest companies in the region, where technology is being applied for safety.
"If you go into the territory, the system determines whether safety measures are in place," he explained. Costs always incite hazards; however, as Ahmad pointed out, adapting to them plays a key role in the search for progress.
At the Summit, Engr. Wilyam Nabua from ADNOC Onshore noted: "AI changes our way of life." He affirmed that AI is called to enhance human capabilities, not replace them. Experts agreed that AI is a tool for improving human potential.
Many companies in the UAE are striving to integrate AI into their business, which is why Ahmad emphasized the importance of engineers and architects adopting this technology and using it responsibly. Instead of focusing solely on the potential loss of jobs, it is essential to see in AI new opportunities and perspectives for career growth.
The global economic forum predicts the creation of 78 million new jobs by 2030 due to AI, thus it is important to strive for enhanced qualifications. The skill set associated with AI and large data is becoming an indispensable part of professional success in this digital age.
