
The departure of the competitors concluded the events and competitions of the 16th Al-Zafra Marine Festival, held under the patronage of Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, representative of the Governor of Al-Zafra region. The organizers of the festival featured Abu-Dhabi Heritage and the Abu-Dhabi Marine Sports Club, held for 10 days on the shore of Al-Mughairee in the Al-Zafra region.
The festival attracted a large number of visitors from diverse nationalities and age groups. The events received widespread participation from all segments of society, which contributed to the festival's success as a prominent event with rich cultural, marine, sports, and recreational activities.
During the festival, 1,670 prizes were awarded in 56 different competitions, totaling 7.49 million dirhams.
On the closing day of the Al-Zafra Marine Festival, winners were announced in several marine, sports, and beach competitions, including races in traditional sailing boats on 30-foot vessels, the Al-Zafra Regatta according to modern sailing sports, kite surfing competitions, swimming, and also fishing competitions with nets.
In the traditional sailing boat race on 30-foot vessels, the "Al-Zeir" cutter won, owned by Muhammed bin Rashid bin Shahin and the captain Nukhudha Omar Badram Abdul Hakim Muhammed.
In the fishing competition using nets, Abdulla Jumaa Isa achieved victory with a catch of 3.85 kg. In second place was Isa Ibrahim Jumaa with a catch of 3.45 kg, and in third place was Ibrahim Jumaa Isa with a catch of 3 kg.
As part of the festival, a poetic evening took place, where poems by Saif Al-Mansoori, Ali Al-Hamli, and Khadi Al-Mansoori were recited, led by journalist Rafeed Al-Hariti.
The director of the Al-Zafra Marine Festival project, Ahmed Abdullahi al-Mahiri, expressed satisfaction with the great success of the current session, noting that diverse activities were widely received with interest from visitors and participants, who embraced a traditional and sports atmosphere reflecting the maritime identity of the United Arab Emirates.
