During the annual meeting of the International Ski Federation (FIS), representatives of the UAE initiated the creation of a Presidium of the United Gulf Climbers. It is proposed to collaborate with the regional governments in developing winter sports.
UAE representatives stated that such a union would facilitate the exchange of experience and information, as well as strengthen friendly ties among the Arabian Gulf countries. They also emphasized the need to increase the popularity of winter sports in the region and develop infrastructure to attract international competitions.
Particular interest was expressed in a quote from one of the representatives, who stated: "We are convinced that the establishment of such a union will contribute to the growth of the potential of young talented climbers from the countries of the Persian Gulf and the preparation of a new generation of high-level athletes."
The initiative of the UAE representatives received positive feedback from other delegations, and the discussion of this issue will continue at the next FIS meetings.
