In the UAE, December 2 is celebrated annually as National Day, which will now officially be called Eid al-Formation. The term "formation," which means "unity," reflects the spirit of agreement and national pride, which defines this holiday dedicated to the historic unification of the seven emirates on December 2, 1971.
The organizers invite everyone who calls the UAE their home to mark the 53rd Eid al-Formation together, to express our collective aspirations for a bright future, to honor today’s pioneers, and to inspire future visionaries.
To commemorate this event, various activities and initiatives will be held in each of the seven emirates. Citizens and residents may look forward to extended holidays in honor of National Day, as it falls on a Monday and Tuesday, creating a four-day weekend combined with the existing holidays.
Labeled December 2-3, National Day will become the last public holiday of 2024, suggesting a festive end to the year.
