The International Fund for the Initiatives of Muhammad bin Rashid Al Maktoum is committed to providing approximately 36.7 million dirhams (10 million dollars) to support sustainable programs and projects for forced displaced persons through the Office of the High Commissioner for Refugees. The total amount of commitments of the Fund for Initiatives since the beginning of 2021 amounted to 163.6 million dirhams.
A meeting of the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, the General Secretary of the Fund for Initiatives of Muhammad bin Rashid Al Maktoum, and the High Commissioner for Refugees, Filippo Grandi, took place within the framework of the World Economic Forum in Davos. During the meeting, an agreement on cooperation between the Fund for Initiatives and the High Commissioner for Refugees was signed to support human and strategic solidarity, presented by the Fund to strengthen the community of refugees and forcibly displaced persons through sustainable and developmental programs to improve living conditions in these communities.
Minister Muhammad Al Karkawi stated: "This commitment to support sustainable projects for the communities of refugees and forcibly displaced persons is a reflection of the directives of His Highness Sheikh Muhammad bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE, Ruler of Dubai, regarding the necessity of helping humanitarian communities everywhere and extending a helping hand to assist them in escaping difficult circumstances they find themselves in, and instilling hope in their hearts. This reflects principles of generosity and high values, on which the state of the UAE is built."
Filippo Grandi expressed gratitude to the Fund for the Initiatives of Muhammad bin Rashid Al Maktoum for the continuous support of the refugee issue, emphasizing that this support reflects a significant humanitarian role of the Fund in ensuring the possibilities of the High Commissioner fulfilling its obligations concerning the needs of the affected populations and forcibly displaced persons in their countries or host countries.
