Fresh Chicken Sales Surge in UAE Amid Ramadan

As a result of conducted field surveys, including several cooperatives and retail outlets, the newspaper "Emirates Today" discovered that 21 brands of fresh poultry are represented in the country’s markets, more than 90% of which are produced locally. Local producers guarantee high-quality products, raised on farms without additives.

Responsible individuals from the retail outlets confirmed an increase in consumer demand for poultry purchases in the current month of Ramadan, which is attributed to the increased demand and discounts on various types of fresh poultry. According to this research, chicken consumption increases by up to 50% during Ramadan.

According to the survey conducted in the territories of several cooperatives and retail outlets across all Emirates, more than 21 brands of fresh poultry were studied in the country’s markets. More than 90% of the presented poultry in the UAE is produced locally, with the remaining supply composed of imported poultry from Saudi Arabia and Oman.

The research also revealed a wide variety of fresh poultry available in the country’s markets: whole chicken, parts of chicken (legs, wings, breasts), products from the intestines, legs, and necks, as well as "shish tawook" and other products.

Information reflects that poultry products in the country’s markets have high quality. It is important to note that they are raised on farms without additives, do not contain antibiotics or added hormones, and are fed with natural feeds, specifically excluding any artificial ingredients.

In addition, there is significant attention paid to the availability of specialty preparations, cleaning, and cutting of chicken products. This makes the preparation process easier, suggesting fresh, prepared chicken for cooking.

An employee of a large retail outlet, Abubakar Khafiz, noted that more than 90% of retail brands of fresh chicken products are produced at local farms, ensuring high quality and compliance with international standards.

All buyers’ attention is drawn to the availability of chicken in the month of Ramadan as a main food product for families, considering the discounts on many retail brands of chicken during this period.

Taking this into account, a specialist from one of the major retail outlets in the Emirates, Yakob Omran, confirmed the increased demand for chicken production during this current month of Ramadan, highlighting its significance as a primary food product during this time.

It is important to note that excessive chicken consumption may raise cholesterol levels in the blood and increase the risk of cardiovascular diseases, hence it is important to maintain moderation. Nonetheless, chicken meat contains a large amount of nutritional substances, including vitamins and minerals, which makes it a valuable food product for various age groups.
