The Arab League condemned the extremist calls from Israeli settlement organizations following the destruction of the Al-Aqsa Mosque and the Synagogue in Skala. The government also condemned violations committed against Christians in Jerusalem in the Shabbat of Svetlaya, including obstacles to access to churches and acts of physical aggression, predicting the dangerous consequences of such actions, which could escalate tensions and conflict in the region.
In the statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs reaffirmed the permanent position of the Arab League on the importance of fully protecting Islamic and Christian holy sites and called for serious and provocative violations in the Al-Aqsa Mosque to be halted. It also emphasized the need to respect the unique role of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan over the holy sites in conformity with international law and historical status.
The ministry expressed full solidarity and support for the Jordanian measures for the protection and preservation of holy sites, and also placed responsibility on Israeli authorities for the escalation stop and called on them to intensify efforts to prevent further escalation of tensions and instability in the region. The Arab League categorically rejected all practices that violate international resolutions and threaten further escalation.
In its address, the Arab League also appealed to the international community with a call to strengthen all regional and international efforts to find political perspectives, ensuring a comprehensive peace based on the two-state solution and satisfying the aspirations of the Palestinian people for the establishment of an independent sovereign Palestinian state in conformity with international law.
