Artificial Intelligence (AI) will soon become part of the curriculum in public schools of the United Arab Emirates, following the approval of the government to introduce this subject from the primary levels up to 12th grade, starting in the next academic year. This information was confirmed by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President, Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, highlighting this as an important step in preparing future generations with the skills necessary for a changing world.
Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid noted that it is important not only to educate future generations on the technical aspects of AI but also to address its ethical and societal implications. He expressed appreciation to the Ministry of Education for developing the educational program and emphasized that preparing children for the future requires new skills that extend beyond the current conditions of modern times.
"Our goal is a deep understanding of AI from a technical perspective, as well as fostering awareness of ethics in this new technology, enhancing understanding of data, algorithms, applications, risks, and its connections with society and life," added Sheikh Mohammed. "Our responsibility is to equip children with new opportunities, not limiting their education to the conditions of our time, with updated skills and capabilities, to ensure the continuity of development and progress of our nation for decades to come."
