His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, noted that the consolidation of the Armed Forces of the UAE is an event of great importance for the Emirati people and represents a key stage in the history of the nation. In the message addressed to the members of the Armed Forces on the occasion of the 49th anniversary of their unification, His Highness emphasized that over the past 49 years, the Armed Forces have stood firmly as a shield protecting the nation and all who call it their home.
On this festive day, we express our gratitude for the countless blessings that have showered our homeland, and for the successes of our leadership and our people in creating our shining emirate model, known for its achievements and humanitarian contributions. We remember the wisdom, foresight, and anticipation of our Founders – symbols of our nation and founders of our Union, Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, and his deputy Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum, along with their colleagues from the Supreme Council and Emirs.
"My sons and daughters in the Armed Forces, may peace be upon you. Today, May 6, we celebrate a national event that occupies a special place in the hearts of all of us – a moment that represents a key chapter of our path as a nation and the foundation of our Union," – in the wake of these words begins the full text of His Highness the President of the UAE's message on this happy occasion.
Sheikh Mohammed noted that the decision to unify was one of the most effective and exemplary processes for the formation of a national army, both in the sense of arming and organization, as well as in the development of national military human capital. Over the past 49 years of industrious efforts, planning, training, and the accumulation of experience, the Armed Forces have mastered advanced technologies and contemporary military systems.
"They have demonstrated how such fidelity and sacrifice shape a model that reminds us that when we fulfill our obligations sincerely and honorably, we open the doors to excellence and real achievement," – highlighted His Highness.
